John Bates has resided on the Islands since 1978 and has been Captiva's Fire Chief for over 20 years. John has served on the Board of Governors of the Captiva Civic Association for two 3-year terms and served as President.

John has had extensive experience working with Lee County on rezoning issues in the early 90's. John has been active in Real Estate since 1984.
